| Instructions (You may want to print out this page – Ctrl-P)- When you click on the link at the end of these instructions, a new window will open and take you to a site – “Neighborhood Link – Meet Your Neighbors”
- On that page, click: “Create, Edit or Hotlink Your Home Page”
- New page – “Sign in to Neighborhood Link”
- On that page, click: “Click HERE for our very brief registration.”
- New page – “Neighborhood Link Terms of Use”
- Read the “TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE AGREEMENT”
- Then check box next to “I confirm that I am 13 years old or older.”
- Then click the button: “I Agree”
- New page – “Register to Become a
Neighborhood Link Community Member”
- On that page, enter “Your Information” (*Required): First Name*, Last Name*, Email*, Re-type Email*, Zip Code*, Create a User Name* (3 to 16 characters), Create a Password* (4 to 8 characters), Re-type Password*, Gender, Year of Birth, How did you hear about Neighborhood Link? (Neighborhood Association)
- Then click the button: “Click ONCE to register”
- New page – “You Are Now Registered”
- Check your email and get your “confirmation number.” If possible, do this without closing the “You Are Now Registered” window.
- Return to the “You Are Now Registered” window.
- On that page, click: “Click HERE to sign in.”
- New page – “Sign in to Neighborhood Link” (this is the same page where you began the registration process).
- On that page, enter: Username and Password.
- Then click the button: “Sign In”
- New page – “What Is Your Confirmation Number?” (this page will only appear the first time you log in).
- On that page, enter: your confirmation number.
- Then click the button: “Submit”
- New page – “Neighborhood Link – Meet Your Neighbors” (this is the page you started on!)
- On that page, click: “Create, Edit or Hotlink Your Home Page”
Whew! You are finally going to set up your web page!
- New page – “Create or Edit Your Free Home Page”
- On that page, the first step is: “Select a background color for your page”
- Next, if you want to include an image, click on: “Add-an-Image” (optional – skip the next 6 purple steps if you don’t have or want an image).
- New page – “Post a Photo on Your Home Page”
- On that page, follow the directions and click the button: “Browse...”
- Locate and select the image you want to use from your local directory (pop-up).
- Then click the button: “Save” which should return you to
- New page – “Create or Edit Your Free Home Page”
- On that page, confirm: “Select a background color for your page”
- Next, enter: “Your Name or Family Name” (or your page title).
- Next, enter: “First Headline”
- Next, enter: “First Paragraph”
- Next, repeat for: “Second and Third Headline and Paragraph”
- Next, enter: “Your Email Address” (optional if you want a self-addressed email hotlink on your page).
- Next (following directions), enter: “Links to your favorite Web sites” (optional).
- Next (following directions), enter: “Your personal home page’s Web address” (no punctuation, spaces or capital letters). This will generate the URL that you will share with friends and will be posted on this page so people can find your handiwork!
- Then click the button: “Preview My First Layout”
- New page – one possible version of “Your Free Home Page”
- On that page, click the button: “Preview My Next Layout”
- New page – another possible version of “Your Free Home Page”
- Next, repeat: “Preview My Next Layout” until you find the one you like.
Build-it-yourself Webpage.
Test.
This feature is still in development, but the goal is provide a mechanism so anyone in the Union Square neighborhood can have their own webpage. This will be a service of Union Square Online.
OPTION 1: Those with no HTML skills will, at minimum, be able to have a page with text (that tells their story) and be able to include a photo or drawing (to illustrate their page). Using templates for layout and simple input forms for text, anyone can have their own page.
OPTION 2: Those who are more familiar with web design will have a mechanism to upload their creative efforts as HTML code.
OPTION 3: Those who already have their own webpage set up somewhere else can add their link to this page.
Watch this space for more details as the process is finalized. Until then, you can look at some of the preliminary samples shown below.
